Hope Community Church

About Hope

It started with one vision, four families and no building.

In 1994, Mike Lee felt called to start a church in the Triangle region of North Carolina. He envisioned a place where people could find hope in Christ and, no matter where they were on their spiritual journey, be loved and welcomed.

Today, this vision continues impact every decision we make at Hope Community Church, as we love people where they are and encourage them to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Humble Beginnings, God’s Grand Plans

On Easter of 1994, Mike’s family, along with the three other families who made the trek with him from California, opened the doors at Hope Community Church’s first service. “I didn’t really know what to expect,” says Mike. “But I believed that God was calling us to something big.”

No one could have foreseen just how big that vision would be.

After renting space at various locations around the Cary/Raleigh area for nearly three years, Hope acquired its first permanent location. Shortly after, we outgrew that space and began the search for something larger. After just a few short years, we outgrew that building and moved into Grace Christian School’s building on Buck Jones Rd. while our permanent home was being built next door.

More Growth, More Lives Changed

As God continued to lead Mike and the executive team, more people began finding hope within the walls of this church.

Moving forward with a mission to reach the Triangle and change the world, we began to expand. In 2009, we opened our Holly Springs campus at Holly Springs High School, and in 2011 we launched our Morrisville campus, which now meets in the Morrisville Business Park. In spring of 2015, Ship of Zion, a longtime ministry partner, became an official campus. In October of 2016, our Holly Springs campus became the Apex campus when it moved to moved to a permanent location on the Apex/Holly Springs line. By 2020, we plan on having six campuses in and around the Raleigh area.

For 25 years, we’ve been blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the Triangle – and we look forward to being a part of that plan for the next 20 years and beyond.
